Digital Trends Wins Two Platinums and One Gold at the 2019 dotCOMM Awards

PORTLAND, Ore., August 1, 2019 -- Digital Trends, the world’s largest independent tech publisher, announces three wins at the 2019 dotCOMM Awards, the annual international competition “honoring excellence in web creativity and digital communication.” Since 1994, the dotCOMM awards have been judged and distributed by members of the prestigious Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. This year saw over 200,000 contestants, and Digital Trends joins a list of past winners that includes Microsoft, IBM, AIG, Hilton, Cuisinart, Dell, and other A-list brands.

Digital Trends was honored with two platinum awards: one in online media design for their 2018 Holiday Gift Guide, and one in video for their CES live streamed coverage on Digital Trends Live. Overall, the publisher took a Gold award in the website category.

“The talent behind these awards deserves all the recognition they can get,” says Ian Bell, co-founder and CEO of Digital Trends. “We’re immensely proud of our team, and grateful to be acknowledged across three distinct categories for all the hard work and excellence that’s gone into these campaigns, as well as into our site overall.”

This marks a second win for the 2018 Holiday Gift Guide, which earlier this year received a Digiday Content Marketing award. The holiday feature was a collaboration with Portland animation studio HouseSpecial, who showcased their signature design aesthetic using miniatures to redefine tech product arrangements as cityscapes, spaceships, and swimming pools, in collaboration with Digital Trends’ own in-house marketing and production teams.

Digital Trends’ coverage of this year’s CES in Las Vegas, which catapulted Digital Trends’ Live programming to mainstream adoption, was also nominated for a Digiday Content Marketing award earlier this year. Digital Trends covered the convention comprehensively across editorial, on-demand video, social media, and livestream, featuring branded content with the support of sponsor partner Qualcomm. “This integrated strategy allowed us to reach and engage with our audience everywhere,” says Pete Jacobs, VP of Integrated and Content Marketing for Digital Trends. Coverage featured not only exclusive live interviews with top tech leaders, but Digital Trends’ own picks for the best new consumer tech of 2019. The campaign garnered 532 earned media placements and reached more than 272 million consumers.
